The Health Plan/THP Medicare Advantage Plans
Important Benefit Information for Members of SecureCareHMO and SecureChoicePPO
Effective January 1, 2010 additional benefits are now covered under original Medicare, and therefore now are covered by The Health Plan/THP Insurance Company, Inc. These benefits pertain to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) screening tests.
For individuals at high risk for HIV, we now cover the following:
- Standard antibody screening tests using serum or plasma blood tests
- Rapid HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 antibody tests using fluid obtained from the oral cavity or using whole blood, serum or plasma from a blood draw or finger stick
These tests are covered in full, however if they are associated with an office visit, then the appropriate office visit copay will apply. Hours of Operation are as follows:
March 2 to November 14 - 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday
November 15 to March 1 - 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, seven (7) days a week
After hours you may leave a message and a representative will return
your call the next business day.
SecureCareHMO
SecureCare is a Medicare Advantage Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). It covers all of the health care you need, including preventive care, doctor visits, hospital stays, surgery and (if you choose) prescription drugs. In most cases, members must have access care from a network of providers.
Out-of-network coverage is limited to emergencies and prior authorizations. Members have access to a broad network of healthcare providers from over 45 counties in Ohio and West Virginia.

OHIO COUNTIES in the HomeTown Region: Ashland, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Holmes, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties.
OHIO COUNTIES in the Ohio Valley Region: Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Noble, Monroe, Muskingum, and Washington counties.
WEST VIRGINIA COUNTIES in the Ohio Valley Region: Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio, Tyler, and Wetzel counties.
WEST VIRGINIA COUNTIES in the Mountaineer Region: Barbour, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison (WV), Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Pleasants, Preston, Randolph, Ritchie, Taylor, Tucker, Upshur, Webster, Wirt and Wood counties.

SecureChoicePPO
SecureChoice is a Medicare Advantage Preferred-Provider Organization (PPO). It covers all of the health care you need, including preventive care, doctor visits, hospital stays, surgery and (if you choose) prescription drugs. The plan provides benefits at an “in network” level from our extensive network of providers or “out-of-network” from a Medicare provider of your choice.
SecureChoice is offered to the residents of the following:
OHIO COUNTIES in the HomeTown Region: Ashland, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Holmes, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties.
