The Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley has selected SpecialtyScripts™ Pharmacy, a business of Cardinal Health, and Accredo™, a Medco Company, as Providers of Choice for specialty medications. This arrangement was developed based on the growing use for specialty drugs in the overall delivery of health care for our membership.

Combining the benefits of convenience, compassion and personalized support often needed in dispensing specialty drugs, these providers focus on the unique needs of patients whose complex conditions demand the use of specialty medications. Specialty medications are high cost medications and medication adherence is a dynamic process that requires continuous attention to ensure treatments are successfully completed. Our goal is to improve patient health and improve adherence to medication therapy by utilizing the following services:

• Free delivery of specialty medications directly to your office or your patient’s home via UPS or Federal Express with local courier service available for patients with emergency same day medication needs 
• Medication consultations with registered pharmacists experienced in providing care to patients with complex conditions
• Refill reminders for your patients that help them avoid running out of their medication
