Welcome to the Behavioral Health Unit

The newest addition to The Health Plan is the Behavioral Health Unit. This unit became operational on January 1, 2008. We are now handling all of your Behavioral Health needs on site. The department has staff locations in St. Clairsville and Massillon, Ohio.

Although outside vendors had effectively managed behavioral health services at the plan in the past, it was felt that a greater coordination of care would be possible with the integration of behavioral services. As with other services, our goal is to ensure the highest quality of care for our members. We are working with your provider and you to coordinate your care. We want to let you know what resources are available in the provider network and in the community to help you through any situation or crisis. We will help you locate and obtain services.

We are also working with other departments of The Health Plan to coordinate all of your health needs. We are working with Disease Management Programs, Case Management needs, primary care and specialty care programs to make sure that all aspects of your condition are addressed.

You may receive surveys from time to time in the mail. We will be sending these out in order to determine if there are members who could benefit from our services. Feel free to add any remarks to these surveys when you fill them out and send them back. We look forward to hearing from you!

Our staff is responsible for the entire Behavioral Health process of care. We handle your and your provider's questions, receive and evaluate requests for treatment, manage your follow-up care and process your claims.

If you need to seek treatment and have never seen a behavioral health provider, refer to your provider list to locate and make an appointment with a participating provider. If you need assistance or have any questions regarding behavioral health, please call our office at 1.877.221.9295 and we will help you. Remember, if you are covered under a self-funded program, some precertification requirements may apply. Refer to your benefit book or call The Health Plan for clarification.
